You’ve most likely heard about the dangers of “fragrance”, right? Of course you have. You maybe haven’t done research on it, but surely you’ve heard about it. It seems to be a hot topic these last few years, and with good reason. Essentially, companies don’t disclose what all the include in their products to make the “smell” a certain way. More often than not, the ingredients they DO use are hella toxic. BUT…they label them as “fragrance” and so, it’s “legal”. Wonder why you get headaches after lighting a candle you got at the store?? And that leads me to my next point – SCENTED CANDLES. Now, not all candles are made equally. Some are great quality made with natural ingredients and scents. I used to be OBSESSED with pine scented candles during the holidays. Actually, pine scented ANYTHING. If it smelled like “pine” I was buying it for our home. And boy did my headaches increase…big time. Fast forward to years later where companies started to reveal the truth behind “fragrance” and things just started to make A LOT of sense. My migraines made it clear that while I loved our home smelling all kinds of magical, these toxic products were NOT the way.
And so, I started researching natural alternatives and that’s how I learned about essential oils. It’s all we use now and the difference has been eye-opening. Seriously. Before you jump down my throat, this isn’t me trying to sell you anything or trying to get you to join a MLM. It’s simply me being honest about what we use to make our home smell “Christmassy” while having it NOT affect our health in a negative way.
Ditch those toxic candles. You will be so grateful you did. I know I am.
